"Pest Control"

Written by: Jesse McKeown     Directed by: Jason Furukawa

Hal's Employment Insurance has just run out, he owes Nick money, and he's just killed all the pot plants. But worse yet, Nick's got a new friend, Wayne, who's making Nick question his relationship with Hal. Compared to the tale-spinning, exotic-instrument playing Wayne, Hal's a bong-dependant loser. Maybe it's time that Nick moved out and besides, Wayne can get Nick an interview for an overseas position teaching English. Hal seeks solace from Alicia, who suggests that Nick's impending 30th may have him questioning his life and friendships. The solution, suggests Alicia, is easy – prove Nick wrong, get a job and quit the dope. But Hal hasn't held a legitimate job for years, and is unimpressed with Wayne's input on his resume – somehow selling weed doesn't translate to Self-Employed Botanist in his eyes. Hal's already sullied viewpoint of Wayne's honesty takes a slide when Alicia shares some interesting information. But Nick maintains that Hal's just jealous, until he finds a tidal wave of evidence that drowns Wayne's credibility. Can Hal turn a pest into an opportunity?

Joe Flaherty of SCTV fame plays Hal's father Ramon. Flaherty's scenes takes place in the West End's famed Stanley Park, which he had visited several times over the years while shooting other projects in Vancouver, but this was his first time on the Miniature Train.

Michael Eckford and Fiona Forbes of the popular Shaw TV magazine show "Urban Rush" both have cameo appearances in this episode.

The skunk is played by 8 year old "Flower" who previously had a nip/tuck from the vet to de-stink her.
